2013 slide show

T.R.A.I.L. web site with official information is here.

April 2nd: Leave KC @ 7:00 AM sharp for Shreveport (550 miles)– En route there is a stop at Macadoodles liquor store in Pineville, MO (a stone’s throw from the Arkansas line). Then on to the Fairfield Inn with a Mexican restaurant (Nicky’s) across the parking lot. This stop is a tradition with us. We party there and finish back at the motel.

April 3rd: Travel to Lafayette (230 miles)- We have stopped at Natchitoches (at Laysone’s for meat pies) and in Opelousas at Billy and Ray’s for Boudin along the way. There is a kick-off party that evening.

April 4th: Ride to Breaux Bridge (40.3 miles)– We ride from Lafayette to Breaux Bridge basically following the Cycle Zydeco route. We will travel through St. Martinville visiting several attractions there. You might want to make a stop at Kate’s Too just as you get to Breaux Bridge. Pace yourself at Rainbow Daiquiri’s. Chastity mixes up some mean Crazies (Pace Yourself). We are thinking Dinner at CafĂ© Des Amis.

April 5th: Ride to Opelousas (43miles). You might enjoy the swamp boat tour at McGee's Atchafalaya Basin ($? fee - Not sure if this is included). We understand there will be a tour of Bayou Teche Brewery in Arnaudville (LA 31 beers). Also in Arnaudville is a great food stop at Myran’s Maison de Manger. Traveling on, look for “the tree” for a magnificent photo op, especially since it’s Arbor Day. Another traditional stop for us has been Bourque’s Super Market in Port Barre. The Jalapeno Sausage Cheese Bread is a treat. SORRY there will be NO horse racing at the Evangeline Downs (the season begins April 17th) and the city’s web site tells of a Music & Market series happening on Fridays in April and May (this site hasn't been updated from last year's schedule yet).

April 6th: Saturday we ride to Mamou for Fred’s Lounge where a Zydeco radio broadcast takes place from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. We hope Tante Sue will be able to join us there. This is one of my absolute highlights each year on the Cycle Zydeco ride. After your wild time at Fred's we attempt to ride on to Eunice (total mileage 39.2). That evening we can attend the "Rendez-Vous Des Cajuns" radio show at the Liberty Theater.

April 7th: Sunday we will ride from Eunice to Lafayette (50 miles). This leg is new so we don't yet know the particulars. If there is time you may consider a trip to Avery Island. See the link for tour information.

April 8th: Return to KC
